A View From The Bridge

Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale told he ‘deserves’ to be playing for a club like Chelsea

Chelsea urged to consider Aaron Ramsdale as potential goalkeeper option

The Aaron Ramsdale saga at Arsenal has been one for the headlines and the England international may have played his final game for the North London-based club. The 25-year-old has been a second fiddle at the Emirates Stadium since the arrival of David Raya among their ranks.

While David was not allowed to feature against his parent club, Mikel Arteta had to call on Aaron Ramsdale, who looked shaky at times and conceded a horror goal, but his confidence grew with the game as he made some wonderful saves to keep the Gunners in the game.

There will be ample uncertainty around Aaron Ramsdale’s future at Arsenal in the upcoming summer and whether he would be happy to play second fiddle to Raya. Among the adversities of others, you have to see the light and goalkeeping coach Dave Watson feels that Chelsea should be all over Aaron Ramsdale if he were to move away from N5 in the summer.

Dave Watson speaking to The Football Fill-In that The Blues need to be aware of Ramsdale’s circumstances.

“He deserves to be playing in the Premier League. But the ability that he’s got, he’s not going to want to sign for a lower or mid-table team, he’s going to want to be at the bigger teams. Where is the potential to have an opening? Could Chelsea look at him in terms of Sanchez or Petrovic at the minute? Would they be looking to maybe change? And would he fancy that kind of thing? That’s the kind of club that I think he deserves to be signing for,” Dave said.

For Arsenal and Mikel Arteta, they want Aaron to stay at the club and continue his development beyond the summer transfer window. However, a goalkeeper as good as him should not warm the bench and he would be aware of that as well.

Chelsea can offer him a perfect project and minutes at the Bridge while he continues to stay in London as we can argue he is definitely superior to Djordje Petrovic and Robert Sanchez.
