A View From The Bridge

Virgil van Dijk tells Chelsea what Liverpool will work on from their last match: “We’re going to sort that out”

Virgil van Dijk says his side will be ready for Carabao Cup final vs Chelsea

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk explains how his side has to prepare to counter Chelsea’s threat in the attack as both sides prepare to face each other in the Carabao Cup final.

Van Dijk provides some insight into their last 4-1 win over the Blues, as well as how the West Londoners made their lives difficult for a few minutes before Liverpool took control of the match.

Despite pushing back Jurgen Klopp’s team, Chelsea’s mistakes were the primary driver of the Reds’ ability to enter the game and gain momentum.

But this time Klopp’s side will be well-equipped and will try to minimise their attack in the final. With Klopp leaving after the end of the season, Liverpool will be hoping to get their hands on the first silverware of the season.

But there will be things that Liverpool players will have to sort out going into this game, as told by the Liverpool captain, (h/t Liverpool Echo), who said:

”The result obviously looks a lot better. We could have scored more, but they were dangerous. I think in the first half, with the way they set up, they tried to get me and Ibou (Konate) into difficult situations. We’re going to try to sort that out. They’re a good team, and I think they showed that as well. They have a fantastic manager, and it will be a very, very difficult game. But we have to make it very difficult for them, so we’ll see.’’

We will have to learn from that 4-1 defeat.

What Van Dijk has said might or might not be accurate because our carelessness was the primary root cause of our poor play during the game, which resulted in this major defeat. They were outstanding the entire game, while we gave the impression of an incompetent side who couldn’t cope with their pressure.

Virgil van Dijk says Liverpool will be ready for Chelsea in Carabao Cup final.

The Dutchman has been in competition of his own this season and has been terrific.

We need to demonstrate to them that we are a different team from the one that humiliatingly fell short of them 4-1. And it will be crucial for us to win that trophy if we want to define this season.
