Mauricio Pochettino has decided who will start in front of the goal against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday. The West Londoners will have a chance to win their first trophy under the Argentine manager.
The odds will be in Liverpool’s favour as they have been ruthless in all competitions this season. The team has continued to perform at the highest level while going through a serious injury problem.
However, Chelsea will need to be clinical going into this final because they cannot afford to miss simple chances. Our tendency to squander easy chances has been a major factor in losing the matches.
The 51-year-old will have two options in Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku to start as No. 9. But it remains to be seen who will operate as a striker, and when asked if he has decided who will start in front of goal, (h/t Football. London) the Blues manager said:
“Yes, yes, yes. 99 percent, the team is in my head.”
Jackson has been captivating for us as a striker, and he deserves to start as one because he provides the attacking line with so much energy and his link-up play is flawless because he retains the ball and unleashes it at the perfect moment, which is incredible. He has it all—his ability to make decisions and make accurate passes. We will have a prolific striker once he gets better at finishing in front of the net.
On the left wing, we can either see Raheem Sterling or Christopher Nkunku starting, and Cole Palmer will start on the right while we know our midfield trio. In defence, we can see Thiago Silva replace Levi Colwill. Mauricio Pochettino might also use the same setup he used against Manchester City, where the game resulted in a 1-1 draw.
