A View From The Bridge

Premier League rivals convinced Chelsea star is their ‘dream’ signing

Ben Jacobs says Tottenham Hotspur sees Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher as dream signing

It seems like Tottenham Hotspur will do everything in their power to land Chelsea midfielder, Conor Gallagher, in the summer transfer window. Ben Jacobs shares a new report on Spurs’ interest in Gallagher and how much they admire the midfielder; they have labelled him as their dream signing.

Chelsea were open to selling the 23-year-old in the January transfer window for a decent sum and slapped £50 million on the midfielder, but the North Londoners failed to meet his asking price.

But come the summer, Chelsea could offload the midfielder if Tottenham are ready to reach the Blues demand. Gallagher has one year left on his contract, and there has been some difficulty in extending his deal due to Gallagher’s demand for a high salary.

Jacobs reveals how Spurs are keen on signing the midfielder, and the summer window may be the moment for the Ange Postecoglou side to recruit their dream signing. The transfer journalist further commented on the issue and told GiveMeSport:

“Tottenham are absolutely convinced that he’s the kind of dream number eight that they’re after. So from a playing style and personality standpoint, Conor Gallagher really does fit the ethos of where they want to take this team. I’d say things that go against it at the moment are the fact that Conor Gallagher is Chelsea through and through. And that does sometimes play into whether a player would be willing to join a certain team. I’m not ruling out that he would join Tottenham, but it’s something to consider.”

Should Chelsea sell Conor Gallagher?

If we get a good profit from Gallagher’s sale, then Chelsea might sell him because of their financial fair play reasons. It is understood that the club is looking to make a pure profit from the sale of their academy players, given that they already sent Armando Broja and Ian Maatsen on loan to Borussia Dortmund and Fulham, respectively.

Then, if Gallagher doesn’t decide to extend his contract over the summer window, we might anticipate that he might be sold. It’s clear that they don’t want to lose him for nothing, but it would be awful to trade him to the Spurs as his addition would only give them more dynamism in midfield.

Gallagher has massively improved under Mauricio Pochettino, and his performance has seen him feature in almost every game this season. He is the kind of player Pochettino has backed to become the next Chelsea star. He focused first on his strong points and is now strengthening his deficiencies.
