Pundit urges Manchester United to beat Chelsea in race for Michael Olise

Mikael Silvestre warns Manchester United of Chelsea interest in Michael Olise

Former Manchester United player and current football pundit Mikael Silvestre is pushing the Red Devils to sign Michael Olise ahead of Chelsea, per Metro. Olise currently plays for Crystal Palace, who are placed 14th on the league table.

Despite being marred by a hamstring injury for the majority of the campaign, the 22-year-old is directly involved in 36% of Crystal Palace’s goals this season. He has six goals and three assists to his name from just 10 EPL games.

Chelsea were keen on bringing the French forward to Stamford Bridge last summer. The Blues were even willing to trigger his £35 million release clause. However, the player preferred extending his contract with Palace than accepting Chelsea’s invitation.

Silvestre believes Olise is the missing piece in Erik ten Hag’s puzzle. Speaking to Betting Expert, Silvestre says,

He [Olise] has the potential to play for United. He’s been improving a lot since his days at Reading,’ .

A tough battle for both but well deserved by United

The current scenario at Chelsea and Manchester United will make any player reluctant to join them. They occupy the 7th and 10th spots respectively in the league table, just four points apart.

Despite having a horde of their own problems, what ten Hag and Pochettino face in common is goal-scoring troubles. The duo lack a dangerous man in the opponent’s final third. While Pochettino is still better with Cole Palmer and Raheem Sterling up, the United boss is facing desperate times in this matter.

Midfielder Scott McTominay is the team’s leading goal scorer (6) surpassing the ones who are destined to do the job. It’s been a long since the Old Trafford residents saw a striker with the ‘X-factor’.

Michael Olise seems to be the missing piece in Erik ten Hag’s puzzle, indeed. The Eagles forward’s release clause is believed to have propelled to £60 million now. Considering, Manchester United’s current situation, the price is quite a bargain for the talent they’d receive in return.
