Liverpool without the services of Alisson Becker against Chelsea in Carabao Cup final
In a welcome boost for Chelsea, Liverpool shall play the Carabao Cup finals against the Blues on Sunday without the services of first-choice goalkeeper Alisson Becker, who is, by far the best goalie in the land and potentially, the world as well. The 31-year-old has been out of action for a while due to a muscle injury and will be until the end of March. He missed Liverpool’s clash against Brentford wherein Caoimhin Kelleher deputized for the Brazilian in a 4-1 win for the Reds.
Chelsea will look to make the most of Liverpool’s misery, as they will come into Wembley without the services of Curtis Jones, Diogo Jota, Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dominik Szoboszlai as per their official website. Moreover, there remains a doubt over Mohamed Salah’s involvement as well, but only time will tell whether or not the Egyptian takes part in the final against his former side.
The Blues have their fair share of injury issues as well with Thiago Silva and Benoit Badiashile joining the ones on the sidelines. With both sides facing an array of injury problems, we have to see who comes out on top at Wembley.
Injuries Galore
Interestingly, Alisson’s absence from the Carabao Cup final two years ago did not hinder Liverpool’s success, as Kelleher stepped up admirably in goal. The Irish goalkeeper’s heroics, including stepping up crucially in the penalty shootout, played a pivotal role in securing Liverpool’s triumph over Chelsea and clinching silverware for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
As the two Premier League giants prepare to renew their rivalry on the grand stage of Wembley, the absence of key players on both sides adds an element of unpredictability to the encounter. With both teams vying for silverware, the Carabao Cup final promises to deliver another thrilling chapter in the storied history between Chelsea and Liverpool.
Chelsea will undoubtedly look to capitalize on Liverpool’s injury woes and exploit any vulnerabilities in their lineup. However, Klopp’s side has shown resilience in the face of adversity, and they will remain determined to overcome the absence of key players and secure victory at Wembley as is the case with Mauricio Pochettino’s men.
Ultimately, the Carabao Cup final stands poised as a fiercely contested battle between two top Premier League sides, with both Chelsea and Liverpool eager to claim silverware and etch their names into footballing history.
