Levi Colwill hopes to become a leader like John Terry at Chelsea
Levi Colwill opens up about leadership qualities he would like to inherit to help this Chelsea young squad. The centre-back has always admired John Terry and would like to have his captaincy attributes.
Colwill, who is one of the Chelsea academy players, grew up at Cobham and was sent on loan to Brighton & Hove Albion last season to develop into an experienced defender.
After arriving here, the 22-year-old inherited the 26 number at the back, which was famously donned by former Chelsea legend John Terry. Now the defender will have a chance to help his side win their first-ever silverware at Chelsea.
The centre-back speaking to the media ahead of the Carabao Cup final reveals he wants to have leadership qualities like John Terry and further told Daily Star:
“When he was walking around Chelsea when I was growing up, you’d think, There’s the captain. He still has that aura now. This is a really young squad. If I pick up that leadership part from him, I can help a lot more.“
Terry was a champion and a motivator who helped the team adopt a winning mindset. He won numerous major championships and dedicated his life to Chelsea. Without a doubt, Chelsea would once again like to have a player of Terry’s ilk at the club. He also serves as an inspiration to many of Chelsea’s younger defenders. Colwill can become like him if he instils such a mentality in others.
