£100k-a-week outcast to stay at Chelsea last-minute Ligue 1 transfer falls through

Le Havre failed to sign Chelsea star Malang Sarr on deadline day

Forgotten Chelsea forgotten star Malang Sarr will remain with the club after a failed deadline day transaction from French side Le Havre, per 90 MIN. The French defender was a favoured prospect when he arrived in West London from Nice back in 2020.

It is reported that the French defender earns £100,000 per week but occupies the bench almost all the time. He is far away from gaining Pochettino’s favour. The 25-year-old was also seen training with teenage trialists at Chelsea’s training ground.

Sarr returned from Monaco after another underwhelming season. The stopper was expecting to return to Ligue 1 with Le Havre. The two parties were involved in frequent discussion but nothing could be capitalised out of it.

Malang Sarr’s contract runs until 2025. The Blues will be looking forward to finding a suitor for their well-paid defender in the summer. As of now, Sarr will continue to be on Chelsea’s payroll.

Chelsea’s impending outbound transfers

While Malang Sarr’s exit seems inevitable and the club will be doing their best to make it happen, he’s not the only one. The stand-in captain, despite being a go-to man for Pochettino, will most likely be offloaded in the summer.

Conor Gallagher has been his coach’s confidante this season, stepping in whenever the situation demanded. However, the Blues are looking forward to maintaining their balance sheet.

Selling a homegrown player with a great market value will aid Chelsea in their end goal. Chelsea’s London rivals Tottenham Hotspur have expressed interest in the midfielder time and again. Ange Postecoglou, who signed a forward and defender in January will be eyeing a midfield man in the summer.

Conor Gallagher seems to be the perfect match for the Lilywhites head coach. Chelsea, just like most Premier League clubs, had a quiet January transfer window. Armando Broja’s exit is the only notable move this term.
