Chelsea captain Reece James has started training on grass since his hamstring injury

According to Football. London, Chelsea captain Reece James seems to have started his grass training after his surgery following a hamstring injury. The right-back has updated on Instagram about his injury while running on the turfs of Qatar. Tagging the location of the Qatar capital, the Blues captain also wrote, “2/3 [tick emoji]”.

James, who sustained a hamstring injury in the opening game of the season, was sidelined for a month, but the right-back had many injury relapses before things got worse.

He picked up another hamstring injury and was told to undergo surgery to avoid sustaining the same injury. The 23-year-old had surgery on his hamstring in December last year, nearly three weeks after his last appearance for the club.

However, the England international is in his recovery phase and may be at the second stage of his rehab. Earlier, he also posted that he was training at Cobham, and one can expect him to return before the end of the season.

Injuries haven’t been kind to James, who has struggled for the fifth time in just over 18 months with a hamstring strain. The injury forced him out of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, and then the majority of the second part of the season as well.

He has experienced a lot at such a young age, which is concerning for him given that he was named captain and is thought to be the club’s future leader. He’s had enough injuries, so perhaps the operation will put an end to it. If not, he’ll become an injury-prone player and drop farther in the rankings.

His return is uncertain, but given that he has started training on the grass, he could make a comeback before the end of the campaign and may participate in a few matches. He can also have a chance to represent England at Euros 2024.
