Chelsea star Axel Disasi receives plaudits from Gary Lineker and Micah Richards for his performance vs Manchester City
Gary Lineker and Micah Richards have been convinced by one of Chelsea player’s performances in the 1-1 draw with Manchester City. Both pundits were astounded by Axel Disasi’s performance against City.
The former AS Monaco centre-back stepped up against City and was a guard at the back. Thiago Silva was ruled out of the game, which saw Mauricio Pochettino go with Levi Colwill and Disasi as a centre-back pairing.
Disasi came to the fore and ensured that City’s attack wouldn’t get past their defence; his performance saw him get praise from plenty of pundits. Richard and Lineker were impressed by his performance and told, The Rest is Football:
““Disasi was fantastic. Disasi had some really good clearances; his positioning was really good on certain occasions in the game.”
It’s time for Disasi to step up vs Liverpool’s attack
Disasi was a monster at the back and limited Erling Haaland’s threat. His stats in that game are enough to indicate how enthralling he was in the match. He had the most clearances, the most aerial duels won, and the most blocks.
Since joining Chelsea, the Frenchman took time to settle into the league but now he seems to be settling in well and adjusting to life at Chelsea. Mauricio Pochettino could use Disasi and Colwill against Liverpool as they help move the ball quickly from back to front.

Silva would be unlikely to start the game, even if he is well considering how well the duo fared. Furthermore, neither player gave up easily, making it difficult for one of the top attacking teams to score many goals against us. Both of them now feel more confident and self-assured to take on Liverpool’s attack after the draw.
It will be interesting to watch Pochettino’s starting selection, and hopefully he won’t make mistakes like the ones that cost him a 4-1 loss to the Reds.
