A View From The Bridge

European giants decided against pursuing Chelsea’s Mykhaylo Mudryk in January

Bayern Munich considered making January move for Chelsea star Mykhaylo Mudryk before signing Bryan Zaragoza from Granada

Bayern Munich thought about making a move for Chelsea’s faltering star Mykhaylo Mudryk in the January transfer window but changed their mind. According to the Athletic, the German giants were pondering a move for the faltering Ukrainian forward following Kingsley Coman’s serious knee injury.

However, the German giants instead opted to bring in Bryan Zaragoza from Granada, who was already linked with a permanent move to Bayern but joined them on loan in January.

Meanwhile, Mudryk has so far struggled to remain consistent with his performance under Mauricio Pochettino. Although it appeared that the 23-year-old was making strides during the season, the forward’s play once again suffered a dip in performance.

The forward this season has four goals and four assists in 26 Premier League matches across all competitions, but since the start of the new year, the youngster has mainly played as a substitute.

Fans are growing impatient with Mudryk, who still makes some basic mistakes during the games, and they doubt whether the forward is ready to remain at the club or should be sent on loan.

During the last summer window, there was speculation the forward could be sent on loan as he was still raw and far from developed, but the report was claimed to be untrue as the Blues wanted to keep the 23-year-old.

Mudryk is a player with a high ceiling who possesses all the makings of one of the finest players, but his performance is fluctuating. He demonstrated his ability when he started a few games earlier in the season, but this year he has mostly been used as a substitute, which may be the reason he hasn’t been able to impact the game by entering the game as a substitute.

The Bundesliga is considerably less competitive than the Premier League, so perhaps a loan to Bayern would have been preferable. There, he could have developed into a legitimate forward by the following season.
