BBC pundit Chris Sutton makes a diplomatic prediction for the Chelsea match against Wolves and feels the game could go either way. He believes the Blues’ 4-1 defeat to Liverpool was a message that the club isn’t playing free-flowing football.
The Reds effortlessly demolished the West Londoners, and there were numerous occasions in which the team was far from evolved. The seasoned Liverpool squad also overran the Blues due to several mistakes.
With Wolves, the Blues will have a chance to bounce back and send a message that they have recovered from the embarrassing defeat to Liverpool.
However, Sutton feels the match will end in a draw after the pundit says Mauricio Pochettino is far from playing free-flowing football and tells the BBC:
“I base these predictions on what I see, and I was painting a positive picture about Chelsea after the little run they went on before the Liverpool game. But Anfield was a reminder of where they are at and, as well as their defensive issues, that they are neither a free-scoring nor a free-flowing side.”
Sutton is spot on with his statement, and we are still not in full shape to play free-flowing football because we made too many individual mistakes against the Reds, mainly in defence. We were hard done by Liverpool, and it should give us a lesson on where we stand when it comes to playing against top sides this season.
We still have matches against Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, and Arsenal. The loss to Liverpool served as a reminder that we need to regroup and not become overly optimistic. They should use the Wolves encounter as an opportunity to claw their way back.
Wolves did well in their last game when they rallied back and almost drew the game against Manchester United. So we know they will be prepared, and we will have to bounce back in that game and keep our hopes of securing the top four spot.
