Watch: Enzo Fernandez reacts after being teased by fan following Chelsea vs Liverpool EFL Cup final

Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez almost got into a brawl with a Liverpool fan at Wembley

According to Metro, Enzo Fernandez came close to confronting a Liverpool fan when he was taunted on his way to getting a runner-up medal on the stairs after Chelsea’s 0-1 defeat to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley.

Liverpool once again got better of the Blues in domestic cup competition when Virgil van Dijk headed home Konstantinos Tsimikas’ 118th-minute corner to seal Liverpool the League Cup for a record tenth time. This is now the third straight Wembley showpiece that the Blues have lost to the Reds.

Meanwhile, the Blues had chances that could have seen them secure a win with a comfortable scoreline before extra time, but their carelessness was once again on display.

And now another heartbreak for Mauricio Pochettino, who has yet to win a trophy with an English side. The Argentine manager looked upset and was close to crying after full-time, but things would have turned worse when a fan tried to mock Fernandez.

Fernandez himself had a poor evening against Liverpool, and he was similarly sad after the game. Following the final whistle, the midfielder went on to collect his runner-up medal. One of the Liverpool fans said, “Enzo, unlucky lad!” while laughing hysterically.

Fernandez looked angry and turned towards that fan, but was taken aback by Chelsea teammate Jimi Tauriainen. Otherwise, had he confronted the fan, he would have been in a big mess then.

Enzo Fernandez was mocked by a fan when went to receive his runners-up medal.

These things happen in football, and it’s always better to avoid them instead of getting them into your head. Had Fernandez done something to that fan, he would have faced consequences from the FA. But these moments are always sad because he lost a final and didn’t give his best in the game.

As a player, you will be subjected to taunts of this kind, and some of them will go too far and say offensive things. However, you must choose to ignore them and keep them out of your mind. Because the last thing we wanted was for our player to brawl with a supporter following a defeat.
