“It will be strage”- Cole Palmer on Manchester City return in Chelsea colours

Chelsea star Cole Palmer talks about Etihad return

As Chelsea’s upcoming clash against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium draws near, Cole Palmer finds himself in a unique and emotionally charged situation. Having spent the entirety of his professional career at Manchester City before making the significant decision to join Chelsea last August, Palmer’s return to his former stomping grounds carries profound personal significance.

In a recent interview with the club’s official website, Palmer candidly expressed the array of emotions he anticipates experiencing as he prepares to face his former club. Describing the impending encounter as “strange” and “weird,” Palmer acknowledges the complexity of emotions that will accompany his return to the Etihad Stadium.

“It will be a tough game but I’m looking forward to going back to the Etihad,”

“It will be strange, a weird feeling, but I’m looking forward to it and the team’s looking forward to it.”

“I’m very excited to be honest, even though it will be strange. Obviously I played against them at Stamford Bridge, but I think going back to the Etihad will be even stranger. But I’m really looking forward to it.”

Despite the inherent nostalgia and sentimentality of the occasion, Palmer approaches the match with a sense of excitement and readiness to embrace the challenge alongside his Chelsea teammates.

“Cold” Palmer

Palmer’s journey since joining Chelsea has been nothing short of remarkable, thanks in large part to the unwavering support and guidance of manager Mauricio Pochettino. Under Pochettino’s tutelage, Palmer has thrived, showcasing his talent and contributing significantly to Chelsea’s success on the pitch.

With an impressive record of 14 goals and nine assists in 31 appearances across all competitions, Palmer has quickly emerged as a linchpin in Chelsea’s midfield, validating the difficult decision to depart from his boyhood club.

For Palmer, his return to the Etihad Stadium serves as a poignant reminder of his roots and the formative years he spent honing his skills in Manchester City’s academy. As he prepares to step onto familiar turf, albeit in different colours, Palmer is undoubtedly filled with a sense of gratitude for the opportunities afforded to him by his former club. However, his allegiance now lies with Chelsea, and he is determined to make an impact on the pitch, showcasing the growth and resilience he has developed since joining the Blues.

Reunion with his treble boys.

As they witness Palmer’s return to the Etihad Stadium, Chelsea supporters certainly stand united in their support for the winger, hoping that he continues his positive form for the Blues.
