Chelsea set historic club record against Crystal Palace after yet another win

Chelsea have now won 13 games in a row against Crystal Palace

A 3-1 win over Crystal Palace saw Chelsea set another benchmark performance and record. The win gives them 13 consecutive league wins against a single opponent for the first time in the club’s 118-year history.

Things haven’t looked all that promising under the Argentine boss, though the team has been smashing new records on and off and winning two straight games by a score of 3-1 has given Mauricio Pochettino a little respite.

When the host found the back of the net in the 30th minute following another individual mistake, it appeared the Blues would have another long night, but Conor Gallagher’s goal in the 47th minute instilled some sense of hope.

It appeared the game was heading into a draw, but the England international was once again on target when he slotted a Cole Palmer pass from the box, while Enzo Fernandez made sure the Blues were taking all three points home.

This was a telling win for the Blues, who came into this game on the back of an impressive FA Cup win at Aston Villa. The visitors struggled to break down Palace, but despite dominating possession and finishing 420 passes in 45 minutes without having a shot on target for the first time since the 2003–04 season.

Chelsea continue to set new records under Pochettino

The victory at Selhurst Park also set a new record for the Blues, who have now defeated Palace in 13 straight games, suggesting that Palace is becoming a favourite opponent.

But this win will give them great confidence heading into the most crucial week of the campaign, as they will face Manchester City on Saturday before facing Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley and Leeds United in the FA Cup fifth round. The next couple of weeks could be make or break for Pochettino. Let’s wait and see how it pans out.
