Chelsea target Lautaro Martinez has been a man in-form for Inter Milan this season. He has scored 20 goals with further contribution of two assists in the Italian top-flight this season.
He has been clinical in-front of goal with netting those 20 in only an xG (Expected Goals) of 12.2 which shows how good he has been with the chances presented on his plate.
With great form comes greater responsibility for their employer clubs to keep hold of him. Inter Milan face just that. The officials at Milan based club are desperately trying to keep hold of him with talks for a new contract already held. According to a report by TEAMtalk (h/t ESPN), they are in continuous communication with his agents at FootFeel ISM though the exact details of such deal are yet to be known. The final details of the deal to keep him at San Siro are taking due time and Inter are keen on getting it done.
Lautaro Martinez has shown his pedigree enough and more during his time in Milan. Despite having a poor World Cup by his own standards, let’s not forget that he still ended up on the winning side of things.
There were talks about him not wanting to move to England and rather stay in Italy. Although the report reveals (h/t ESPN) that Lautaro remains open to playing in the Premier League and any new deal at San Siro doesn’t change such future possibilities.
Chelsea are one of the clubs interested in signing Lautaro Martinez. It is said that Mauricio Pochettino is a massive fan of his countryman and already has a strong relationship with him. The 26-year-old was linked with a move to Chelsea in 2022 and was close to moving his base to London and the Bridge.
Alongside Chelsea, league rivals Arsenal are also said to be interested in Lautaro Martinez’ services. Arsenal are also in market for a striker and they are ready to pounce on Lautaro should he fail to agree any deal with Inter Milan. It is not going to be an easy negotiation by any stretch of imagination and the Blues need to ensure that they are ready for the long haul.
