Chelsea are ready to make their move for Napoli ace Victor Osimhen
Victor Osimhen has long been a long time primary target for Chelsea as Mauricio Pochettino aims to strengthen his forward line ahead of the 2024/25 season. He has also been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain, who will need to fill a Kylian Mbappe-sized hole in their squad after the French superstar decided to call it a time on his career at Parc des Princes by departing the French capital at the conclusion of the on-going campaign.
There is a £111m release clause in Victor Osimhen’s current contract at Napoli that will need to be met to pursue a chance for his signature in the summer. The release clause will be valid till 2026. Any move for his services will not come cheap.
Chelsea’s willingness to meet Napoli’s demands
As exclusively revealed by TEAMtalk, the Blues have already contacted the Nigerian’s agents as they try to test the waters to accumulate enough info before having a go at securing his services. Getting the due diligence done will certainly pave the way for smoother negotiations come next summer.
Journalist Rudy Galetti claimed on X that Chelsea are already considering speeding things up to bring Osimhen to Stamford Bridge in the summer. He also claims that PSG are not focused on the Nigerian as of now and are more keen on AC Milan forward Rafael Leao.
Moreover, Osimhen would rather prefer a move to the Premier League. This will be music to the ears of Todd Boehly and Co, However, it remains to be seen if he is willing to move to a club that is unlikely to provide UEFA Champions League football next season.
While the Blues are slowly yet surely finding their feet, the lack of a prolific goal scorer continues to haunt us. In fact, it would not be too much to assume that a clinical striker could have seen us come away from the Etihad with all three points in the bag. Landing a player like Osimhen is nothing short of a gamechanger.

Victor Osimhen led Napoli to their first Serie A title in 33 years and boasts a record of 67 goals complemented by 17 assists in 119 appearances since he joined the club from LOSC Lille back in 2020. Currently just entering his prime, he has several more years to add to his legend. Whether that will be in the Blue of Chelsea remains to be seen.
