Chelsea target Victor Osimhen says his decision is made on which club he will join next season
With his recent admission that he knows his next step, Victor Osimhen has clubs on edge. The centre-forward has been linked to a number of teams including Premier League giants Chelsea.
The Blues have been seen as frontrunners to land the striker next season, who has seven goals for Napoli this campaign and is currently on national team duty at the AFCON as he aims to lead Nigeria to the trophy.
Napoli star has a goal and an assist in the Super Eagles’ last three matches, steering them to the round of 16. The centre-forward side has been deemed the favourites to win the trophy at the AFCON.
And when he returns from the tournament, much will be talked about about his future, despite the striker penning down a new deal at Napoli with a release clause. But the forward recent remarks where he said he knows his next step and further told CBS Sport, quoted by Fabrizio Romano:
“I think 60% of the people mention the rumours about me linked with the Premier League. The Premier League is one of the biggest leagues in the world. I want to finish the season with Napoli strong, then come up with the decision I’ve already made.”
Well, what he has said and his decision has made the clubs and fans think about what the most sought-after striker will do once the season ends. Chelsea remains one of the clubs that want to sign Osimhen, and it will be interesting to see because whichever club he joins they will have to pay his release clause nonetheless.
By next summer, there will likely be more teams vying for Osimhen’s services because it’s very unlikely that he will continue at Napoli given he is now entering his prime years and he will feel it’s time to join a club that will regularly challenge for silverware.
