Sevilla have targeted Chelsea striker David Datro Fofana
As per Relevo, Sevilla are plotting a move for Chelsea striker David Datro Fofana, who is currently on a season-long loan to Union Berlin and has two goals to his name for the German club.
Chelsea signed Fofana from Norwegian team Molde FK last January for 12 million euros. The striker barely played for the Blues before he was sent on loan last summer.
Fofana hasn’t had a decent start for Berlin following the clash with the manager, but the goals have eased things at the German club, and the Ivorian striker will hope to make an impact.
However, he can also have a chance to test his mettle at Spanish club Sevilla if Chelsea decide to cancel his loan from Union Berlin and loan him to Sevilla, given the forward hasn’t been utilized enough and has featured only once since December.
If the Blues want to see Fofana play regularly, they must decide before the January transfer market closes. Since Sevilla is in dire need of a striker, it wouldn’t harm them to loan Fofana to the Spanish side.
Both Sevilla and Union Berlin are enduring a poor season. The Spanish club are in 16th place in La Liga, while the German side are 14th in the Bundesliga. It’s obvious that Fofana could make an instant impact at Sevilla and will help them recover and steer them to calmer waters.

Just two goals in 17 games is an unacceptable start for a 21-year-old, who should not need much time to adapt in the German League, so Chelsea will have to make a thoughtful decision. Chelsea should approve a loan to Sevilla to get him ready considering his spell at Union Berlin is not working. If things don’t improve, the Blues might cash in on him in the summer.
