PSG beat Chelsea and other European giants in race for £17m South American starlet

Chelsea target Gabriel Moscardo joins PSG until 2028

PSG managed to land Chelsea target Gabriel Moscardo, per Football London. The Ligue 1 giants secured the defensive midfielder’s signature for £17 million. However, it wasn’t just Chelsea that received the blow but also Liverpool, Barcelona and Arsenal.

The medical ahead of the Brasilian’s PSG move wasn’t smooth as a foot ankle was detected. Nevertheless, PSG completed the transfer and made it official on Thursday. The 18-year-old will be back in Brazil to gain senior experience.

Paris Saint Germain chased Moscardo with all their might after losing to Real Madrid in the race of Endrick. It is learned that the club’s sporting director, Luis Campoa, flew to Brazil to personally convince the player amidst links to Chelsea and Arsenal.

The prodigy will also have to undergo surgery to deal with his foot problem. He has signed a deal until 2028. The youngster said he is very happy to join PSG and will be hoping to win trophies for the club.

Chelsea’s lost cause

Chelsea was leading the race to sign Gabriel Moscardo but PSG intervened. The reason is not mentioned anywhere but it is quite ‘out there’. The Parisians are league leaders and boast a better chance at European football than the West Londoners.

Chelsea sit 9th on the league table and European hopes are far from reality. The club also seem to be jinxed as its players are facing injuries constantly. To top that, some also face recurring injuries, especially Reece James, Romeo Lavia and Christopher Nkunku.

All things considered, PSG sounded like a better option for the young Brazilian than Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have been surprisingly silent this transfer window, considering their spending habits.
