Pochettino reveals why Christopher Nkunku will not start Chelsea’s next game vs Preston

Mauricio Pochettino informs that Christopher Nkunku will miss Chelsea match vs Preston with injury issues

Chelsea will be without Christopher Nkunku, who has a niggling injury problem he suffered in a 3-2 win over Luton Town last December.

The former RB Leipzig forward finally made his much-awaited Chelsea debut against Newcastle United, which the Blues won 4-2 on penalties in the Carabao Cup.

However, the forward has yet to hit the ground running after coming back from a long-term injury he suffered in a pre-season game against Borussia Dortmund.

It’s a sensible decision Mauricio Pochettino has made because we cannot risk our players who have slight injury issues, and given that Nkunku has returned from a big injury, we will need to be cautious with him and give him minimum game time to help him reach his full fitness.

According to the Argentine boss, he doesn’t have any major injury concerns and ought to be available for Chelsea’s upcoming match, (h/t Football.London), he further added:

“I am going to tell you that Christoph [Nkunku] is not going to start tomorrow because he suffered some issues during the week, but he is going to be in the squad. We need to be careful with him, like I told you. Six months where he didn’t compete, and when he starts to compete, it’s not the same.”

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino says Christopher Nkunku has some injury issues and will miss Preston game.

The game against Preston is not that significant, and we should prevail in this match without our first team, as it will also allow rest for the team, and Nkunku will benefit from this match and recover for the next fixture. But this game would have been good for Nkunku to play because it would have allowed him to slowly reach his fitness level.

We cannot risk him because he is our most crucial player and should be given all the time in the world to recover from his recent injury issues. Pochettino’s words indicate it doesn’t look serious, and he should be back for the next contest.
