Mauricio Pochettino provides cryptic response on Chelsea’s signing of Jordan Henderson
Since the arrival of Todd Boehly, Chelsea have been famous for being the most active club in the transfer window, and given that the January window is finally upon us, the Blues will be looking to make more additions.
Mauricio Pochettino feels that he needs to reinforce some areas and add some experienced players, given that they have a roster consisting of young players.
Now the former Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson has been linked back to a move to the Premier League because the report reveals he is unhappy at Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq.
The England international is ready to consider offers from Premier League clubs, and Chelsea, who require some seasoned players in their squad, could go for Henderson.
The Blues are also looking to sign a midfielder and when asked about the possibility of signing Henderson,(h/t Metro), the Argentine manager said:
“We didn’t talk about names. At the moment, we are not talking about players. I saw [co-owner] Behdad Eghbali with [co-sporting directors] Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley.”
Because Henderson has the experience and will benefit young players in addition to adding significant worth to the squad, signing him shouldn’t present any problems given our youthful roster. However, since our focus will primarily be on developing young players, he should be prepared for less playing time if we decide to sign him.
But it could be complicated to sign him, given that he is still under contract in Saudi Arabia, and we don’t know how much they will demand for his signing. We should avoid paying hefty money for someone who is in his late 30s.

Given that Romeo Lavia is once again injured, Carney Chukwuemeka is still recovering, and Lesley Ugochukwu is also sidelined, we will need a midfielder so we can contemplate signing Henderson on a short contract.
