Mauricio Pochettino feels Chelsea should give importance to FA and Carabao Cup
Mauricio Pochettino emphasises the importance of the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup and says they will help them secure a place in the European competition next season.
The Blues are in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup and will play the FA Cup third round today against Preston Town, while they languish at 10th in the Premier League.
However, Chelsea are 11 points behind fifth-place Tottenham Hotspur, and if they manage to remain consistent with their wins, then a top-four spot is certainly possible.
West Londoners’ next games are not tough to win following a streak of matches against big sides. And Pochettino feels his team can achieve a top-four spot, but he has also put emphasis on the domestic cups, (BBC), and said:
“Through the FA Cup or Carabao Cup, we can achieve that [being in Europe next season]. It’s a really important competition for us because we are not in Europe. In the Premier League, we are in a position where we need to grow and improve a lot if we want to be in Europe next season.”
It is important to agree with what Pochettino said since winning these two competitions will benefit us and show that we are developing as a team. Additionally, we aren’t far behind in the Premier League to take the top-four spot.
But we need to address our inability to regularly secure victories, which has been one of the primary problems. This cycle of winning two games, losing the next, and so on can be discouraging at times and puts pressure on Pochettino.

Because this is Pochettino’s first season with so many young players, and since it’s difficult to help them develop, it will be fair even if we are unable to compete in Europe. He will require time, but it will be a significant accomplishment for both the Argentine manager and us if we can reach the Champions League next season.
