Journalist names the figure who is now at the forefront of Chelsea’s operational and transfer plans

Chelsea show interest in signing Manchester City starlet James McAtee.

Behdad Eghbali now at the forefront of transfers at Chelsea Football Club

Chelsea Football Club have had their fair share of problems, especially transfer-related ones under the ownership of Todd Boehly, who until now, remained exclusively involved when it came to which players the club would sign or let go of. Under his stewardship, Chelsea onboarded plenty of players, and the roster is HUGE, to say the least.

However, internal discussions reveal that Boehly’s partner, Behdad Eghbali of Clearlake Captial, owners of the club, will now head the operational side of things at Stamford Bridge. Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly, Gabriel Slonina, Carney Chukwuemeka, Marc Cucurella, Cesare Casadei, Wesley Fofana, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Denis Zakaria, David Datro Fofana, Benoit Badiashile, Andrey Santos, Joao Felix, Mykhailo Mudryk, Noni Madueke, Malo Gusto, Enzo Fernandez, Christopher Nkunku, Diego Moreira, Nicolas Jackson, Angelo Gabriel, Lesley Ogochukwu, Axel Disasi, Robert Sanchez, Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia and Deivid Washington are the players the Blues have got on board under Boehly’s ownership.

Now that he has taken a step back, best believe that the Blues will not resort to high-risk signings. Earlier, in the ownership of Roman Abramovich and overseer, Marina Granovskaia, there was a sense of calm when it came to the players who were coming on board. Boehly has somewhat made it haywire, but hopefully, Eghbali will resort to extensive studies, proper research and getting only those players on board who align with the club’s strategies. And more importantly, join a core of young players at Chelsea who aim big.

It is very important for the betterment of Chelsea that Mauricio Pochettino and Behdad Eghbali are on the same wavelength.
It is very important for the betterment of Chelsea that Mauricio Pochettino and Behdad Eghbali are on the same wavelength.

Sami Mokbel, via his It’s All Kicking Off! podcast, spoke about the change in dynamics within the ownership camp, and here is what he had to say:

“Todd Boehly has taken a step back and it is now Behdad Eghbali who is fronting up the ownership side of the operation at Chelsea. But they’re all in the same boat.”

Eghbali’s increased involvement hints at a departure from this high-volume approach, emphasizing a more meticulous and strategic recruitment process. The focus is expected to shift towards quality over quantity, ensuring that each addition aligns strategically with Chelsea’s overarching vision and objectives.

The Iranian’s newfound prominence brings with it the promise of stability and careful planning reminiscent of the earlier Abramovich and Granovskaia era. Chelsea supporters should expect a more thorough approach, where extensive studies and proper research guide the recruitment process. The goal is not just to bring in exceptional talent but also to align with the club’s values and long-term strategies.

As the club enters this transitional phase, Mokbel’s revelation underscores the significance of Eghbali’s leadership in shaping Chelsea’s future. The collective commitment to a more sustainable and successful future is evident, with the anticipation that Chelsea will emerge from this transformation as a club focused on strategic, impactful, and visionary player acquisitions and away from infamous large-spending signings.

Behdad Eghbali will take over the operational side of things at Chelsea from Todd Boehly.
