Fabrizio Romano gives definitive Bayern Munich stance on signing Chelsea outcast

Bayern Munich pull out from race to sign Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah

Fabrizio Romano reveals Bayern Munich isn’t interested in signing Trevoh Chalobah, and the Chelsea centre-back isn’t on the German club’s list of acquisitions.

It was earlier claimed the Bundesliga club would make a move for Chalobah in January, but now it seems they have changed their stance on his signing. The German club is looking to add another defender and is harbouring Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo, who is on the top list of Bayern’s signings.

Chalobah is currently nursing an injury he picked up during pre-season and hasn’t appeared in a single Chelsea game so far this season. However, the centre-back is also not part of the West London plans, and they are willing to offload him to raise some profit.

Todd Boehly hopes to gain some profit from the sale of their fringe players to avoid FFP infringement, and the Blues Academy player is among the potential departures in January.

However, now the Blues are hit with a big blow as Bayern are not keen on signing the centre-back anymore, who came close to leaving Chelsea in September but halted a move to the German side, vowing to fight for his place at Chelsea.

That hasn’t been the case so far, and he has also not appeared in any games as we enter the second half of the campaign. Chalobah will need to find a club soon; otherwise, he will waste his potential years at Chelsea.

At just 24, he has the potential to be a valuable defender for other teams. Other clubs must be interested in hiring him, and since Bayern Munich has withdrawn from the competition, it is unclear which team would make the first move.

Because remaining at Chelsea isn’t sensible as he is way down the pecking order and the club is looking to add another defender instead of using him, it sends a clear message to him to find a new club where he can get guaranteed game time.
