Fabrizio Romano clears the about long-term Chelsea target Neymar’s contract situation at Al-Hilal

Long-term Chelsea target Neymar to stay at Al Hilal amid contract termination rumours

Chelsea, at various points over the last few years, have seen themselves linked with a move for Neymar. Ever since the Blues let go of Eden Hazard to Real Madrid back in 2019, Neymar has constantly been cited as a potential target for Chelsea.

The rumours hit a peak when he left Paris Saint-Germain, but the 31-year-old was quick to pen a deal with Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal FC. Very recently, the Saudi side made room for new signing Renan Lodi by letting Neymar off the squad list prompting rumours of a potential termination of the player’s contract resulting.

However, Fabrizio Romano cleared the air via Twitter stating Neymar’s contract with Al Hilal is not terminated, but he was not registered in the squad due to a foreign player rule. To register Lodi, they had to let go of one player, and that was Neymar as the winger’s long-term injury prevents him from taking a part in this year’s campaign.

While Neymar has often seen himself linked with a potential move to Chelsea, the current episode with Al Hilal reaffirms his commitment to the Saudi Pro League side, at least for the foreseeable future. The clarification from Romano underscores the importance of verifying information amid the constant churn of transfer rumours in the footballing world.

Let’s see if he wishes for a move back to Europe from Saudi like many of his contemporaries that have not enjoyed the best of stays in the Middle East.

As the footballing world observes these developments, the transfer saga involving Neymar and Chelsea takes yet another turn, leaving fans and pundits alike to anticipate the next chapter in this ongoing narrative

It surely would have been something to see Neymar Jr. ball out at Stamford Bridge.

A move for Neymar would’ve made sense at Chelsea before his eventual Saudi switch. Now, the scenario has changed. To invest in a player on a decline plus someone who’s done their ACL out does not seem a wise move. While it would have been great for the papers and the club, it seems like ‘Neymar to Chelsea’ will go down as only a what-if. Let’s see how things go for the player in the future.
