Dimitar Berbatov’s prediction for Fulham clash would not please Chelsea fans

Dimitar Berbatov says Chelsea and Fulham will share spoils

Chelsea welcomes Fulham at Stamford Bridge during lunch, and the pressure has intensified on Mauricio Pochettino after his side’s 1-0 defeat to Middlesbrough midweek in the Carabao Cup semi-final.

Now the Argentine will be hoping to return to winning ways when they host the Cottagers, and a win could see them move up in the table above Manchester United.

However, former United star Dimitar Berbatov feels Chelsea’s goalscoring woes will create problems in their game against Fulham and predicts a draw is on the cards for the Blues.

The former player claims Chelsea needs to start scoring goals, and his last match against Middlesbrough, where they had plenty of chances, is the reason they couldn’t win, he further told Metro:

I don’t know what to say anymore when it comes to Chelsea, honestly. So many teams are struggling to put the ball in the net at the moment. It shows you how important it is to have a striker who can score goals and how good it is if you have more than one guy to score the goals. When you don’t have players who can score, your game suffers. You draw 0-0 or you lose games. If it continues, then the only logical thing to do is to go out on the training pitch and continue to do what you’ve done before—trying to put the ball in the back of the net.

Based on Chelsea’s performance against Middlesbrough, I’ll go for a draw in this one.

Prediction: 1-1

We have no way to refute Berbatov’s assertion because it is accurate and our most recent game saw us have trouble scoring goals. This raises questions about our ability to perform with reliability in front of goal because, before Middlesbrough, we defeated Preston 4-0 in the FA Cup third round. Then we showed negligence against the Championship team.

Meanwhile, the Cottagers also gave Liverpool a tough fight, and their intensity will be hard to deal with given that the Reds struggled to cope with their intense pressing. So we will have to be prepared, and hopefully, we will deliver the result, because if not that, that will put further pressure on Pochettino.
