Chelsea forward set to undergo medical at Championship club for January move, says Romano

Chelsea starlet Alex Matos to undergo medical for January loan move to Huddersfield Town

Chelsea’s young talent, Alex Matos, is poised to undergo medical tests at Huddersfield Town today, paving the way for a loan move that is expected to be finalized shortly thereafter. This is according to Fabrizio Romano.

The 19-year-old, who recently joined Chelsea from Norwich’s Youth Academy, is a versatile player with a primary role as a traditional right-winger. However, his adaptability extends to playing as an attacking midfielder or on the left wing.

Matos is known for his well-rounded abilities, combining a battling midfield style with technical prowess on the ball. His versatility allows him to feature across the frontline and even in the central midfield role. Despite making a brief debut appearance for Chelsea in a Premier League match against Fulham earlier this season, his playing time with the senior team has been limited, and he has struggled for form with the Blues’ reserves.

The loan move to Huddersfield offers Matos a valuable opportunity to gain consistent game-time, an aspect he has been lacking at Chelsea. The stint at Huddersfield will likely provide a helping environment for his development, allowing him to showcase his talents and further hone his skills. He has not scored for the Chelsea youth teams in 11 appearances while he had 18 G/A for the Norwich Youth sides before his move to Stamford Bridge.

The Terries are in the bottom half of the Championship at the moment. With Matos in the squad, they can probably put up a strong fight for a mid-table finish.

Matos will bring a dynamic presence to Huddersfield’s squad. The move signifies a strategic step by Chelsea to ensure their young talent receives crucial experience and playing opportunities, fostering growth and progression in his career. Hopefully, this move can bring the best out of him and unlock the Matos we saw at Norwich.

This loan move aligns with Chelsea’s commitment to nurturing young talents by providing them with opportunities to grow and excel in a competitive football environment. The overloaded roster at Chelsa might make it tough for Matos to break through and this loan move might just be what the player needs to regain his confidence and his form.
