Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino reveals he received a message from Jurgen Klopp when he was sacked as Tottenham Hotspur manager

Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino reveals the heartfelt message he received from Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp when he was sacked by Tottenham Hotspur in 2019, which ended his long tenure as Spurs coach.

This comes after the Liverpool boss decided to step down as their manager following the conclusion of the 2023-24season, which will mark the end of an unprecedented success as their gaffer. He leaves behind a legacy that we hope Pochettino emulates with the Blues.

Meanwhile, Pochettino, who made his name as Spurs manager, couldn’t win any trophies with them despite leading them to the Champions League final and coming close to winning the Premier League.

This created a close bond between the club and its fans, and it was obvious the sacking came as a shock. Now the same thing happened to Liverpool fans after Klopp abruptly decided to end his successful stint as the Reds manager.

The Argentine manager has opened up about the German manager leaving Liverpool after the end of the season and recounts a message he got from Klopp after being fired, which Fabrizio Romano cited:

“When I was sacked from Tottenham, the first message was from Jurgen Klopp. I want to show my respect because the job at Liverpool is amazing. We have to respect his wish to rest. We already miss him!”.

Seeing as he established Liverpool as one of the most dominating teams in Europe and helped them win both the Premier League and the Champions League, Klopp’s legacy as manager of the team will live on.

He’s a kind guy who understood what Pochettino accomplished as Spurs manager. Klopp gave him a very touching note when Pochettino was fired, even though he didn’t win any championships. These are tests of maturity, and only managers will understand other coaches what they face at the clubs.

Fans of modern football are used to seeing immediate outcomes from new managers, but Klopp was treated well by the Reds supporters because he took his time and created Liverpool from the ground up. Hopefully, Chelsea supporters will do the same and let the former manager of Spurs turn the West Londoners into one of Europe’s most formidable teams.
