Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino hints at Armando Broja loan while comparing him to Harry Kane

Speaking of Chelsea striker Armando Broja, manager Mauricio Pochettino drew parallels between the 22-year-old Albanian striker and Bayern Munich star Harry Kane. The Englishman departed Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window earlier this after 14 years with the club. A certified legend in North London, he has scored the most goals for the Lilywhites.

Poch was the manager of Tottenham for five years between 2014 and 2019 and Kane enjoyed his most prolific goal-scoring record throughout his time at the club under the Argentine tactician; 242 appearances, 169 goals and 30 assists. Pochettino sees the situation of Chelsea striker Armando Broja as similar to that of Kane and feels a loan move or two might help the Albanian find his goalscoring groove. He has three goals and two assists for the senior team in 37 appearances across all competitions.

Loan moves have often helped many a player thrive in a different environment to that of their parent club and come back much stronger and rejuvenated. Poch feels that is what Broja might also need, and here is what he had to say via Fabrizio Romano – Twitter.

Kane had a total of four loan spells during his time at North London before sealing a spot in the first-team, and making that striker role exclusive to himself. As Poch rightly recalls, Kane went on temporary moves to Leyton Orient, Millwall, Norwich City and Leicester City and it was only in 2013, two years after his debut with the first team that he made a name for himself.

More loan spells for Broja, then?

Judging from Pochettino’s words, it seems that he views Broja as a top talent, but also as someone who might need to learn more and fine-tune himself on loan spells to find his confidence and explore his real potential. He has had two loan spells one at Vitese and one at Southampton so far. Two more and he might become Chelsea’s record scorer in 12 years.

Pochettino’s words also convey a sense of optimism about Broja’s future, acknowledging the striker’s potential while emphasizing the need for a strategic approach to his development. The comparison to Harry Kane serves as both a testament to Broja’s talent and a roadmap for potential success through loan spells and gradual integration into the first team.

By citing Kane’s loan experiences, Pochettino suggests that a similar path could be beneficial for Broja’s growth and eventual emergence as a top striker. As the Albanian forward navigates his career, the parallels with Kane offer an encouraging perspective, indicating that loan spells might play a pivotal role in shaping his trajectory at Chelsea.
