Chelsea and Arsenal target asks Saudi Pro League to let him leave on January loan

Chelsea target Karim Benzema request for loan move from Al-Ittihad

As per Guardian, (h/t ESPN), Karim Benzema has finally had his say on his exit and urged the Saudi Pro League to allow him to leave on loan for the second half of the season amid interest from Chelsea and Arsenal.

The former Real Madrid player was also removed from team training by Al-Ittihad manager Marcelo Gallardo after returning late from a mid-season holiday in Mauritius. However, if he decides to leave the Saudi outfit, then Benzema would have to take a huge pay cut to join another team.

The 36-year-old pocketing hefty wages at Al-Ittihad could halt his move to any other European side, as they won’t be able to afford his salary. The decision comes down to him to cut his wages and push for the move.

Chelsea have now shown interest in signing the striker, but it’s a lot complicated because they won’t be able to comply with his wages if they manage to land him, and a salary cut will be the only option.

His addition is no doubt a cherry on top for us because he instantly reinforces our attack and adds that lethal finishing in front of the goal, which the Blues have been desperate to solve.

However, the striker has also been linked with a move to Manchester United, Arsenal and his childhood club Olympique Lyon. The French club owner, John Textor, is keen on a move, and it remains to be seen if his side will be able to triumph in his acquisition.

If Benzema does not lower his pay, the Blues will have to go elsewhere because paying him the same amount will interfere with our wage cost, impact Financial Fair Play, and violate Premier League Sustainability Rules.

Thus, there are a lot of factors to consider before obtaining him when we look at his signing. If he chooses to take a pay cut to join, that will be tremendous because it will indicate that he is willing to play for us and help us score goals.
