“You arrive at the hospital” – Mauricio Pochettino gives ‘doctor’ analogy to explain Chelsea job

Mauricio Pochettino compares his Chelsea job to that of a doctor

Mauricio Pochettino opens up about his arrival at Chelsea and compares it with a doctor’s treatment of a patient. This comes after the Blues suffered an embarrassing 4-1 defeat to Newcastle United.

This led to the Argentine manager slamming players and accusing them of being soft against the Magpies. Now the Blues will prepare to face Brighton & Hove Albion in the hope of rebounding from a frustrating loss.

The Blues are set to be without captain Reece James, who was sent off against Newcastle, while Malo Gusto could be unavailable due to a shoulder injury.

So far, the 51-year-old’s time at Chelsea has been bumpy, and there has been a sign of improvement in performance. Now, the former Southampton manager has explained his role at Chelsea and compared it to that of a doctor, (h/t Express) saying:

“You arrive at the hospital because you don’t feel well. First of all, the doctor needs to do some analysis, see you, and detect the problem. Then, they give the medicine or the solution.”

“With us, it is the same. We analyse to identify why, and when you find out why it happened, you attack the problem. We already know that this is a young team that needs to be more mature and consistent, and this up and down can happen. Now we need to realise why and then emphasise in different areas how to anticipate these types of situations.”

Since joining the team, Pochettino has made this point repeatedly. The supporters should realise that this is a young team, and they shouldn’t be too upset about a loss because they have seen our progress under him as well as the way we played against Manchester City, Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur. These represent Chelsea’s recent developments under Pochettino.

Pochettino’s role is akin to that of a doctor in that he must evaluate the issue and establish a strong point. The guys have already begun to gel, so all we need to do now is have patience and trust from fans and board.
