“Situation is completely quiet”- Romano on Chelsea pursuit of highly-rated Serie A winger

Fabrizio Romano dismisses Chelsea links with Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia

Fabrizio Romano sheds light on Chelsea’s pursuit of Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and reveals the club is in no position to make a move for the Georgian forward.

Earlier, it was reported the Blues were favourites to sign the 22-year-old, who made a breakthrough last season and led Napoli to Scudetto, scoring 14 goals.

He has continued in the same vein this season and has already scored four goals in 14 matches for Napoli his performance has recently drawn many clubs who are keen on signing him, including Chelsea.

The Blues were rumoured to be making a move for the 22-year-old in January. But that isn’t the case anymore, as Romano confirmed, who says the Blues currently don’t have any intention to sign Kvaratskhelia.

The transfer expert further claimed there hasn’t been any negotiation between both clubs and gave more insight on CaughtOffside for his Daily Briefing column:

“We had links between Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Chelsea this week, but I can tell you guys, from what I am hearing at the moment, that Chelsea have not started any type of negotiations or made any contact for Kvaratskhelia. Not on the player’s side, not on the club side with Napoli, so the situation is completely quiet.”

Romano’s reports are consistently accurate; therefore, we can assume that Chelsea may not be interested in signing the Georgian due to their abundance of players available for left-wing. We don’t need another player to play left wing since, to accommodate his playing time, a specific player will either have to sit or leave.

Kvaratskhelia is a fantastic player any team would be happy to have him at the club. Victor Osimhen is another player that Chelsea are interested in signing, but how will they have the funds to pay for both of Napoli’s stars? They could run the risk of violating the Financial Fair Play standard.
