Sevilla contact Chelsea to sign Malang Sarr on loan

Sevilla FC are actively pursuing the acquisition of French defender Malang Sarr from Chelsea as they seek to fortify their defence amid a spate of injuries this season. The officials of the La Liga club have reached out to Chelsea to explore the possibility of loaning the talented 24-year-old.

Sarr has struggled to secure a regular spot in the first team under manager Mauricio Pochettino. He has yet to feature in a competitive game for the Blues this season after returning from Monaco on loan in the summer. The limited playing time at Stamford Bridge has prompted Sevilla to express interest in bringing Sarr on loan for the second half of the season.

Sevilla find themselves in a precarious situation defensively, with key players like Tanguy Nianzou and Marcao sidelined due to injuries. The potential addition of Malang Sarr could offer a valuable solution to the Iberian side’s defensive challenges, especially as they aim to remain competitive in both La Liga and the UEFA Champions League.

That is as per Fichajes. The Frenchman’s versatility and defensive prowess make him an appealing target for Sevilla, who are keen on shoring up their backline to navigate the challenges posed by injuries to key personnel. Sarr‘s ability to adapt to different defensive roles adds to his allure as a potential asset for Sevilla in their pursuit of success on multiple fronts.

Reports from Turkey suggest that Besiktas are also actively pursuing the French player, attempting to persuade him to join their ranks. The competition for Sarr’s services may complicate negotiations, but Sevilla are willing to exert effort to secure the promising young defender who is on the fringes of Poch’s squad.

Sarr’s ability to feature as a left-back and a centre-back with ease makes him an attractive prospect for clubs like Sevilla eyeing a move. For Sarr personally, moving to Spain on loan for the rest of the season could present him with a wonderful opportunity to put up a strong show and make a case for himself as a starter once he returns to London.

Malang Sarr is struggling for game time at Chelsea.

The January transfer window is approaching, and clubs across Europe are assessing their squads and targeting reinforcements. Poch would surely not want to retain him at the club while he does not intend to give him more games.
