Christopher Nkunku has completed a £53m transfer to Chelsea amidst fears of the deal collapsing.

Mauricio Pochettino claims Christopher Nkunku will be in Chelsea squad vs Sheffield United

It might have been music to the fans’ ears when Chelsea supporters learned that Christopher Nkunku would be in the Chelsea squad to face Sheffield United during lunchtime.

Mauricio Pochettino confirmed the Frenchman could make his most-awaited debut against Sheffield since suffering a knee injury during pre-season.

Nkunku played in preseason games after joining Chelsea this summer. With the arrival of a star player who is ultimately going to make an impact for the team, his performance instilled enormous hope in the fans.

But the 25-year-old sustained a knee injury in a match against Borussia Dortmund and had to undergo surgery, which kept him out for months. But that wait is over, and we can expect to see him on the pitch against Sheffield.

The Blues have taken plenty of precautions during Nkunku’s recovery because he suffered the same injury last season as well and underwent surgery. But the long wait is over as Pochettino revealed Nkunku will be in the squad and said, his words were quoted by Fabrizio Romano:

“He can be involved. It’s very good news. We need to be calm and quiet now. It’s going to put all the pressure on him. He needs to evolve and know the Premier League.”.

Because Nkunku will be returning from a long-term injury and we can’t expect him to come out firing when he makes his debut, we need to carefully consider Pochettino’s remarks. Until he recovers enough to play the entire game, he most likely won’t be in the starting lineup for a few games. The Argentine boss will give the player some playing time to get acclimatised to the league intensity before focusing on improving his conditioning.

Now his presence will be great for us because we will finally have an experienced player in a young squad whose performance will also be helpful to guide other attackers. It will be exciting to see Nkunku return to action finally.
