Mykhaylo Mudryk sent a five-word message to Chelsea captain Reece James on his recent Instagram story with the caption “Waiting yall for you, captain.”
This comes after Reece James suffered another hamstring injury in the same season and is expected to be out for 2–3 months after MRI scans.
The 24-year-old sustained the injury in a 2-0 defeat to Everton and was replaced earlier, in the 27th minute, when he was holding his hamstring. For a player who has been unlucky with injuries since last season, it has been a disaster for him.
James will need to assess his routine because these injuries are serious and keep him out for so long which isn’t good for such a young player.
James will now start his rehab at Cobham, and it is also understood that the right-back will see a specialist for his hamstring injury. Following his MRI scan, the Chelsea website released a statement that read:
“Captain Reece James has undergone a medical assessment… The defender was withdrawn during the first half at Goodison Park, and scan results have confirmed a hamstring injury. Reece will now begin his rehabilitation programme at Cobham.”
That a gifted right-back has sustained so many injuries over his career is unfortunate. He is only 24 years old, which is horrible for him. The club ought to examine this because we have seen many such cases with other players who are injury-prone and are forced to end their careers. Recurrent injuries are also not healthy for him. Being injured and unable to do what you enjoy takes a toll on your mental health.
It is awful for a player that he will now miss two or three months of action. James could need to modify his lifestyle or nutrition in order to prevent injuries, as these factors are equally crucial for avoiding such long-term injuries.
