Mauricio Pochettino tells Chelsea players what is ‘non-negotiable’ ahead of Everton clash

Mauricio Pochettino says his players needs to have that fire ahead of Chelsea vs Everton game

Mauricio Pochettino has urged his players to set a high standard ahead of the Everton clash on Sunday. The Argentine manager has blasted his players for a lack of commitment following defeats to Newcastle United and Manchester United.

During the United game, Chelsea had many opportunities, but they were unable to take advantage of them, and as a result, the players perceived the loss to United as a lack of dedication. Before playing, United Chelsea defeated Brighton & Hove Albion 3-2, although they nearly gave up the lead in that match as well.

Players occasionally lose concentration during a game and give up simple goals, which makes one wonder about their commitment to the game and their mentality.

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino asks for more commitment from his players.

The Argentine manager has now pushed his players to play at a higher level in these kinds of games and stated that winning the games is a must. (h/t Express), He added:

“We lay out the strategy. Then, if you are at Chelsea, one natural thing that you need to have is fire. “If not, we are going to struggle all season. We need to show that we care and that we are going to be ready to fight. That is non-negotiable. Football is about a lot of things, but we need to start with this.”

Pochettino exhorts his team to show more commitment in matches

Pochettino is correct when he says that possessing an exceptional mindset is essential for winning football matches. Before putting his plan into action, a manager would first ask his players to do this.

We had demonstrated a lack of dedication in our previous three games, losing to the opposition comprehensively. We have 90 minutes to play the game, so in the interim, we must stay focused and give it everything we have.

Football is a game of thin margins; one mistake can alter the course of the encounter. Chelsea have always had a top mindset, and we demonstrated that this season when playing Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, and Arsenal. We should attempt to make up for previous disappointing losses in the next game.
