Mauricio Pochettino urges Reece James to turn deaf ears to social media hate
Mauricio Pochettino supports Reece James after the Chelsea captain received backlash following his injury yet again, according to The Standard. James picked up an injury 30 minutes into their loss against Everton.
The club captain will be out of action for four months following surgery. The player said he received support from his followers but mostly ‘hate and negativity’.
The Blues boss has asked his players not to listen to social media messages as it is easy these days for people to damage each other. He said,
“Today it is so easy to damage people, to write things. It’s fashionable to speak only badly. It makes me very sad because it also looks like the negative things have more impact than the positive things.”
He further revealed his concerns about how people in the business take social media responses seriously. Pochettino also expressed how immune he is to the hate on social media. The Blues boss also said he doesn’t care what people say about him after a loss.
The never-ending ties with Reece James’ injuries
The Chelsea fans are acquainted with the news about Reece James’ injury much more than anything lately. The club captain has missed 34 games in the calendar year so far. Further rest period awaits the full-back following another hamstring that he sustained.
Many have called out Chelsea’s medical team for not assessing Reece James’ injury with caution. His absence has been massively felt by Chelsea. The London outfit have missed out on a strong defensive option who has a key presence in supporting his attacking unit.
On the other hand, there is also a lack of leadership. Conor Gallagher has taken the mantle in the absence of Reece James and Ben Chilwell. Mauricio Pochettino is trying to more defensive options come January.
