Moises Caicedo would need some time to get used to Chelsea’s environment, according to manager Mauricio Pochettino after Chelsea smashed the British transfer record to sign the Ecuadorian from Brighton & Hove Albion.
Honestly, Caicedo has performed admirably, but because of his high price, fans are going to demand that he give a stellar performance in every game. As of now, we are yet to see him do justice to the price tag or the effort it took to bring him to Stamford Bridge.
In football, it’s not normal to spend a significant amount of money on a player and because of his high price, he is certain to face pressure. However, Caicedo has experience playing in the Premier League, so he shouldn’t need much time to get used to Pochettino’s style.
However, one can say that he didn’t participate in Chelsea’s pre-season, which might be the reason for him failing to flourish for the Blues, but he has positive attributes that will eventually see him turn the tables around.
But he is just 21, and having big expectations from such a young player is also not healthy, but he will eventually get better, as Pochettino said, quoted by Fabrizio Romano via X:
“It’s easy to blame the money for different aspects. He’s a human being. It’s about time to fit and perform. That’s why we have no doubt that it’s only time. We had no pre-season. It is physical and mental, and there is talent. We’re sure”.
Since Pochettino has a history of developing young players, we understand his optimism. Caicedo already boasts the skills necessary to become a top midfield player, so we have reason to expect him to elevate himself even more. The fact that the 21-year-old has played in practically every Chelsea game shows just how valuable he is already.
He is one of the best midfielders who can contribute to every game and is comparable to N’Golo Kante. Although there will be a lot of pressure because of the money we paid to sign him but his performance on the pitch will ultimately speak for itself.
