Mauricio Pochettino comments as two more Chelsea stars are ruled out for Crystal Palace tie

Raheem Sterling and Cole Palmer face a one-match ban and will miss out the Palace clash

Mauricio Pochettino suffers another blow as he will be without Raheem Sterling and Cole Palmer against Crystal Palace. The Chelsea boss has opened up about his team’s poor disciplinary record throughout the season, according to The Mirror.

Chelsea picked up five yellow cards against Wolves, taking their tally to 56. Nicolas Jackson, Conor Gallagher and Malo Gusto are the other three players to enter the referee’s books. Raheem Sterling received a yellow card for diving after his contact with Wolves player Joao Gomes.

Palmer invited the booking by kicking the ball away. They both will face a one-match ban, leaving their manager with further trouble. The Argentine says,

“They are young and sometimes they get frustrated but now we are without two more players.”

Pochettino expresses his ‘disappointment’ but urges his players to continue the journey. He extended his support to his young players and those experiencing the Premier League for the first time.

Chelsea and their ‘infamous’ records

The West Londoners endured their fourth consecutive away league loss at Molineux Stadium. They are also the “worst behaved” team in the PL after collecting 56 yellow cards. They also own the record of having the most misses of “big chances” in the Premier League.

Tension is mounting within the Chelsea camp as Pochettino cannot capitalise on the return of his injured players. While he was delighted to learn about Christopher Nkunku and Romeo Lavia, Reece James’ injury and the subsequent suspensions came back to haunt him.

Mauricio Pochettino tried a new combination against Wolves upon the return of Lesley Ugochukwu. However, the result turned out differently than expected. Mario Lemina opened the scoreline in the 51st minute before Matt Doherty hammered the final nail in the 93rd minute.

Chelsea found a consolation goal via substitute Nkunku in the 96th minute. Even though the goal couldn’t save the Blues from the despair, it surely sent a message to the fans of what Nkunku is capable of.
