Mauricio Pochettino reveals details about Romeo Lavia’s much-awaited return
Reece James‘ injury is probably the biggest headache (yet again) for Mauricio Pochettino at the moment. However, amidst all the chaos, the coach gets a breather in terms of Romeo Lavia’s tentative return date. The Blues manager expects Lavia to mark his Chelsea debut soon.
As reported by the Evening Standard, Pochettino spoke in a press conference,
“Romeo Lavia will be fit in maybe one week or 10 days”.
Romeo Lavia arrived at Stamford Bridge for €58m. He picked up an injury right away without getting to play a single game in the Chelsea outfit. The 19-year-old will be missing the Sheffield United and Newcastle United clashes. He is expected to return before Chelsea’s trip to Wolves on the eve of Christmas.
Lavia’s return will be handy for Pochettino who is dealing with an underperforming Moises Caicedo. The fact that Chelsea battled with Liverpool all summer to pull Romeo Lavia to their side makes it even more bitter.
Liverpool sit atop the league table despite losing Lavia and Caicedo to Chelsea during the summer window. Mauricio Pochettino has too much on his plate right now and this news should ease his pain.
Lavia’s return is not the only good news for Mauricio Pochettino
Christopher Nkunku’s arrival was much celebrated by the Chelsea fans. The former Dortmund man had put up a stellar performance in the Bundesliga and the Champions League before earning a move to Stamford Bridge.
The celebrations didn’t last long as Nkunku suffered an injury even before he could don the Chelsea shirt officially. Nevertheless, the star will feature in Chelsea’s squad list ahead of the upcoming fixture.
It is unsure whether Cristopher Nkunku will be getting any minutes. He will be an asset on the bench for Pochettino, regardless. Nkunku’s return means the Argentine will now have another option up front.
