Pascal Gross has warned Chelsea that their hefty spending won’t lead to immediate success on the pitch and claimed that the club Blues have signed all their players.
Chelsea broke the British transfer record to sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton & Hove Albion for £115million, having already signed Mar Cucurella for £62m a year before.
They also appointed Brighton’s former manager Graham Potter last season after paying the Seagulls £21.5m and brought in their sporting director Paul Winstanley.
There has been a revamp of Chelsea in every department since the new owner took over the club. But the appointment of Potter never went well; he failed to turn things around despite a good start as club manager.
Both sides have struggled to win games this season but the Seagulls are six points ahead of Chelsea in the table. Now both clubs will face each other on Sunda hoping to put their hands on important three points.
However, the Brighton midfielder has slammed Chelsea for signing most of their players and feels their excessive spending won’t lead to instant success on the pitch he further said:
“They have taken a lot of our players from us. They have more money than us so they can do that but that doesn’t matter on the pitch.’’
Chelsea’s scattergun method under Bohely never worked out, and we were a disorganised team that signed players carelessly and failed to adjust. The previous season, we also had to deal with multiple manager changes, which forced the players to adjust to new coaching styles. Last season was a complete catastrophe, and our extravagant expenditure was never justified.
This season we have been patient, evaluated, and made our decisions before signing a player. Mauricio Pochettino underwent a drawn-out process to become the club’s manager. Now that everything is operating as it should, we learned our lesson from the loss to Newcastle, and perhaps the players will be amining to bounce back when we play Brighton.
