As per Evening Standard, Lewis Hall is available to play for Newcastle against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup quarterfinal on Tuesday night. The left-back joined the Tyneside in the summer on loan with a £34 million obligation to buy included in the deal.
The clause will be triggered depending on the number of games under his belt and performance-related factors, which are yet to be met as Hall struggles to get sufficient game time.
Newcastle have a different dispensation to use the 19-year-old against his parent club, despite not featuring in a 4-1 win over the Blues.
Hall has not been used frequently, and Newcastle are reluctant to activate the buy-back option after the end of the summer window.
The youngster was loaned in the hope of raising some funds after the club spent £1 billion across the last three transfer windows. Last season, the left-back made a breakthrough into the starting lineup following injuries to Ben Chilwell and Marc Cucurella.
Hall made a strong impression, and despite his young age, the left-back truly wowed with his composure. However, after significant spending, the team wants to make money off of Academy players in order to adhere to the Financial Fair Play regulation.
Even though he is fit to play, it doesn’t seem probable that Eddie Howe would use him because Tino Livramento and Dan Burn are his first-choice options at left back this campaign, and the game is crucial for the Magpies. However, anything could take place, and Hall might have the opportunity to play against his parent team. He was impressive against Manchester United and also had a goal to his name, so let’s see if he will get a chance to showcase his attributes once again.
Meanwhile, so far this season, he has been unlucky to go unused, as he has featured only three times for the Magpies. Hall is a talented left-back, and seeing him barely used is so sad because such a talent is going to waste.
