Chelsea tipped to sell three players and strengthen in three positions this January

Chelsea could sell three players to raise funds for the upcoming transfer window

The Blues want a new striker, a new midfielder and a new centre-back. Wow! Sounds mindblowing considering our present roster size. Chelsea are planning to sell three players to raise funds to get on board three new players, one in each outfield department.

Trevoh Chalobah, Ian Maatsen and Noni Madueke face an uncertain future at the club as this is the trio of players that Chelsea feel could generate a decent fee for them to reinvest into the January window.

Chalobah has seen himself linked away from Stamford Bridge for quite a while now, and the reason why he did not move in the summer transfer window earlier this year comes down to his injury which kept him out of action for a considerable amount of time.

There are concerns over the long-term futures of Ian Maatsen and Trevoh Chalobah at Chelsea.

Are more signings what we need at this moment?

Left-back Maatsen has only 12 senior appearances for the club, and a move might surely help him rejuvenate his career. The likes of Levi Colwill and Ben Chilwell are not easy to move from the setup and Maatsen will likely have to work extremely hard to establish himself as a regular starter. Last season was a wonderful one away on loan for the Dutchman who played a crucial role in helping Burnley come back to the Premier League.

The most surprising player on this list of players who Chelsea could sell as per football.london is right-winger Noni Madueke. The former PSV man made a switch to the Premier League in the January transfer window last year and since then, has been blowing hot and cold. The 21-year-old last featured on the bench against Brighton in early December following which a minor injury has kept him out of the squad.

The Blues’ management needs to show trust in the players who are a part of the team and are committed to the cause. The question arises – do these players truly need time to perform, or is Chelsea’s move to sell them driven by a need for immediate financial resources? In a squad boasting depth and talent, some argue that placing trust in the existing players might be a wiser strategy than making further investments.

Results take time, and let that be the case. That doesn’t mean we shake the team up every six months. That’s how the club will eventually lose its identity and that’s surely not what we want for a club of Chelsea’s stature.

In the grand scheme, Chelsea’s decision to sell these players not only impacts the team’s immediate composition but also signals a commitment to financial prudence. The coming weeks will unravel whether this calculated gamble pays off, and if the Blues can seamlessly integrate new faces while bidding farewell to familiar ones. The transfer window beckons and Chelsea’s intricate dance of arrivals and departures will undoubtedly captivate the footballing world. Mostly from a, “Whoa, what is this team trying to do”, point of view.
