Chelsea target confirms he won’t renew contract at South American club

Claudio Echeverri is certain about not renewing his contract with River Plate

Claudio Echeverri has confirmed his plans about not signing a new contract with River Plate, per Fabrizio Romano. The Argentine prodigy is a hot property right now and is being chased by many top clubs.

Fabrizio Romano further revealed Barcelona’s interest in him apart from Chelsea and Manchester City. The release clause is said to be €25 million but it could go up to €30 million closer to the transfer day deadline.

Echeverri, the bronze boot winner in the U-17 World Cup, has all eyes set on him. The 17-year-old, who is compared to Lionel Messi, turns 18 in January. Therefore, he will be available to move overseas.

Claudio Echeverri’s current contract runs out in December 2024. Chelsea can be often found chasing top European young talents. However, this time, they face competition from Manchester City.

Stamford Bridge can be the perfect place for Echeverri to build his future

Manchester City will be a dream club for any player who wishes to set foot in the Premier League. Hence, landing the Argentine’s signature could not be easy for the Londoners. Chelsea has a knack for securing youngsters but they must convince Echeverri of what lies ahead of him.

A crowded squad at Mauricio Pochettino’s disbursement is one of the major concerns. The River Plate attacker might not want to join the Blues to warm the bench. Echeverri’s playing position can make things easy for him.

While Chelsea has a handful of defensive options, they do not boast the same depth when it comes to attacking midfield. Cole Palmer is emerging to be a strong contender in that position. This means Pochettino will have to play with his formation to accommodate the youngster.

There’s probably no other club in Europe that invests in youth as much as Chelsea. Claudio Echeverri should consider this criterion before making up his mind. The competition within the Manchester City squad will be immense for a new arrival.

Phil Foden occupies a cemented position within Pep’s ranks. All things considered, it will be worth headlines, should Claudio Echeverri nod to a Chelsea deal.
