Mauricio Pochettino drops update on Reece James as injury struggles continue to mar his career

Chelsea skipper Reece James sustained a hamstring injury in the 2-0 defeat to Everton

Chelsea captain Reece James could face more time out of action after the right-back suffered another hamstring injury in the first half of the 27th minute and was replaced by Levi Colwill.

Things got from bad to worse as the Blues suffered another defeat when Everton rallied to a 2-0 win. Chelsea now find themselves in a delicate situation. James would be frustrated to pick up another hamstring injury after the right-back suffered the same injury in the first game of the season and spent two months on the sidelines.

It now appears that the 24-year-old is becoming injury-prone, which is certainly bad news for Chelsea because, since last season, the fullback has missed most of the games due to injury.

Last season, James suffered a knee injury and was out for most of the month. This campaign, he has started only five games, and now another injury will be a great setback for James. We can only hope that it isn’t serious and doesn’t keep him out for long.

It remains to be seen how long the Chelsea captain will be on the sidelines, given his recent setback. However, Pochettino spoke after the game and updated on his injury, (h/t Evening Standard), He said:

“He feels something in his hamstring; we don’t know the nature.”

James’s continual injuries are bad because they have a psychological impact on the athlete and, if they continue, force the player to make difficult decisions for the rest of his career. Either our medical personnel neglected him throughout his recuperation, or he may have been rushed into contests again during his recovery.

It’s not healthy for a player to sustain injuries at such a young age, and it’s unclear how serious his current ailment is—if it’s serious, he may miss extended periods of time on the pitch again.
