Ruud Gullit says he wouldn’t mind if Everton get the result in their favour against Chelsea, as they equip themselves to face the Toffees on Sunday.
Chelsea come into this game on the back of a 2-1 defeat to Manchester United, while Everton thrashed Newcastle United 3-0 and will aim to make it two wins in a row when they host Chelsea.
The Toffees were penalised for breaching the Premier League transfer rule and sanctioned a 10-point deduction, which saw them fall to the relegation zone. However, they have recovered quickly and are in 17th place.
Meanwhile, the Blues are in 10th place as they struggle to win matches, and now another test awaits them against the Sean Dyche side. Now Gullit says he wouldn’t mind Everton winning vs. Chelsea, as he feels for them after losing 10 points, (h/t Football.London) and told GamblingZone:
“I want Everton to stay in the Premier League, and I wouldn’t mind if they got a result against Chelsea! I say that only due to Everton’s situation, though. I’m still a massive Chelsea supporter, and I want them to win games! However, I have sympathy for Everton, and I want them to stay up.”
We cannot feel empathy for them and allow ourselves to lose this match, so we are not here to show sympathy. They will play furiously until they feel secure and aren’t in fear of falling into the relegation zone, so it will be an exhausting contest. They have lost ten vital points. Since the Toffees are too competent to let the opposition get away with even the smallest of errors, we will need to play at our highest level in this game.
In order to demonstrate our improvement under Mauricio Pochettino, we must step up our performance, which has been lacking. The Everton match will serve as another litmus test to ensure that we are heading in the right direction.
