As per Football.London, The Chelsea board will make a decision on Mauricio Pochettino’s future at the club after the end of the 2023/24 season, following a mixed start to his life at Stamford Bridge.
The Argentine manager was appointed head coach of Chelsea this summer and has done reasonable work so far, and Chelsea are 10th in the Premier League table despite spending £1 billion on transfers.
The focus has largely been on assembling young players to build the club’s project around them, and so far, the results have been admittedly disappointing. There is still much work to be done before we can retake our moment in the sun.
Their inexperience has clearly been visible on the pitch, but there has been a transformation in performance as Pochettino hopes to turn this young side into an elite group. But then Rome was not built in a day and it is imperative fans stay patient.
From Pochettino’s point of view, this is a project, and you have no idea how many aspects of the team he still has to work on following the last campaign. When a manager is hired, there are many things that need to be customised.
However, there has been a marked shift in performance thus far this season. Our performance as a team has been convincing, but the squad’s immaturity has caused them to lose a few games.
However, there is still a long season ahead of us, and a lot may change. Pochettino is halfway through assembling a well-organised team, so even in the unlikely event that he is sacked the following season, at least the replacement manager will have a large roster to work with.
Right now, we are performing decently, and more victories will undoubtedly follow if we also add experience that can complement our youthful energy. Therefore, the board should place a strong priority on bringing in some seasoned players to aid the Argentine manager in quickly building a competitive group.
