A View From The Bridge

Chelsea could inflict third midfielder blow to Liverpool as PL star’s agents make contact

Chelsea are in the driving seat to sign Joao Palhinha after talks with his agent

Liverpool could suffer a blow in their pursuit of Joao Palhinha after the Portuguese midfielder’s agent contacted Chelsea about a move to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea may look to add another central midfielder in the January transfer window after Mauricio Pochettino revealed he wants to sign a central midfielder.

Now, according to TeamTalk, (h/t Express), Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha has held talks with Chelsea regarding a move to Stamford Bridge, and Fulham could ask for £60 million for the midfielder.

Liverpool are also in the race to sign another central midfielder, as Jrugen Klopp wants to add more steel to the midfielder despite signing Alexis Mac Allister, Dominic Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo, and Ryan Gravenberch in recent summer.

Joao Palhinha’s agent has spoken to Chelsea about a move to Stamford Bridge.

But as of now, it appears they might once again lose to Chelsea for the Portuguese midfielder, who enjoyed an impressive season last term. Palhinha has also been wanted by Bayern Munich since the summer and was close to joining them, but a last-minute issue saw the move fall through.

Due to his high demand, Palhinha may make a move to one of the major clubs during the January or summer transfer windows. Pochettino has already requested another midfield player, and the Portuguese player’s background in the Premier League makes him an ideal candidate.

The Blues need such midfielders because right now they have too many young midfielders who are still not experienced enough to control the defensive area of midfield.

However, we now have a glut of midfield players, so if we want to bring in Palhinha, we may have to sell one of them because we must allow Moises Caicedo playing time. Romeo Lavia, Caicedo and Lesley Ugochukwu give us three defensive midfielder options; thus, we must first make room to add another midfield player.

Palhinha’s addition will be terrific since our midfield will gain great toughness from his expertise. He had an incredible season for Fulham the previous year and has continued to perform well this year. However, we will have competition from other teams, making it difficult to get him. Yet, his agent has discussed a move to Chelsea, so a possible transfer could happen.
