A View From The Bridge

‘Calm’ Chelsea star says he expected tough times when he joined the club, makes emphatic vow to fans

Chelsea star Moises Caicedo vows to improve after a poor start to his Stamford Bridge career

Moises Caicedo made some big statements in his recent interview, and the midfielder promised fans that they would get to see the old Moises after the Ecuadorian’s not-so-good start at Chelsea.

The Blues broke the British transfer record once again to sign the midfielder when it looked like Liverpool were winning the race to land the former Brighton & Hove Albion player.

The Blues shelled out £115 million to land their priority target, with whom they had been in talks all summer. His time at Chelsea has been uneventful, and supporters continue to hold out hope that their most costly acquisition will justify the Blues’ high transfer fee.

Chelsea have been looking for a defensive midfielder and had Caicedo on their radar since last summer, but after months of negotiation, they finally managed to land the midfielder.

His debut for Chelsea didn’t go as expected, as he conceded a penalty against West Ham United, which the Blues lost 3-1. But the 21-year-old has vowed that they will see the old Moises soon, (h/t Football. London), as in an interview with Telemundo Sports, he said:

“The old Moises will be back and will continue to triumph and give a lot of joy to Chelsea. I’m calm because I knew moments like this would come, and I need to remain mentally strong. [Mauricio] Pochettino has always supported me.”

His exploits at Brighton upped the bar for him as he assisted them in qualifying for the Europa League and attracted the attention of other clubs. Despite spending a significant amount of money on him, Chelsea was ultimately able to acquire him, having been interested in signing him for a long time.

Although Caicedo has been excellent for us, we cannot have high expectations for a player who is still only in his early 20s. Given his high price tag, it is understandable that fans would expect to see Caicedo at his best. Nevertheless, he will be crucial to us in every game, and as he stated, we will soon see the old Caicedo.
